Having been impressed by budget China made guitars, I was curious.
I was curious if the more expensive counterparts (>S$1000) could match up to or even outshine the big names.
And I was lucky enough to get hold of one: Nightwish N-3000GAC.

With a price tag of ~S$1100, it boasts of quality materials and intricate features.
GAC: Grand auditorium shape with cutaway.

Top: solid AAA Sitka Spruce top

Back & sides: solid AAA Rosewood

Rosewood fretboard + bridge. Swapped out the ugly bridge pins with self-dyed bone pins for an added touch of elegance.

Intricate wood rosette with abalone inlays.

Pearl and abalone fretboard inlays.

Elegant maple wood bindings/ purflings around the body.

The inner landscape: standard X-braced but what surprised me was the lack of a bridge plate underneath.

Gold Grover tuners

Headstock heavily decorated with abalone inlays that borders on gaudy.

The guitar sounds loud for a GA shape. Tone of the guitar is very clean and focused. But I felt it lacks a certain warmth for fingerstyle playing. The resonance and responsiveness of the guitar are somewhat lacking too.
So here's the verdict: is it a good guitar? Yes.
Does it offer more value than the price tag? Probably not.
