The Mindfulness Code

I could not ignore the subconscious nagging that I’ve been letting life slip me by anymore. Hoping that meditation could offer some resolution, I’ve been reading books on meditation and mindfulness.

Donald Altman’s “The Mindfulness Code” left a deep impression. Reading the book itself put me in a centered state and offered a deep sense of calm. What I liked about the book was that the author communicated his ideas using personal experiences which somehow palatalize the internalization of the messages. Excerpt:

Events may create physical pain, but they do not in themselves create suffering. Resistance creates suffering… the only problem in your life is your mind’s resistance to life as it unfolds.

Seeing the picture of Dalai Lama’s quote on my facebook wall further strengthened my resolve; I really gotta train my mind to focus on the present and start living my life.
