Uke Fiesta @ Chijmes

I have never played a ukulele; never really had the motivation to do so.

It is like when you carry an iphone, there is no good reason to use an ipod nano.

But after watching the Uke Fiesta @ Chijmes, I would seriously consider owning one.

The evening started with a jamming session at ~7pm. The lawn was filled with people, many with their ukuleles nestled in their oversized arms. They played along to performers and the crowd swayed to the rhythm, immersed in the joy of music making.

Next up was Uke Avenue which performed a slew of popular songs like Yellow and Valerie. The vocalist was superb and the treble rings produced by the petite instrument gave a unique feel to the songs.

My interest in the ukulele was piqued by the end of the evening and I do hope to introduce Ukulele playing @ Chords Haven in the future.

Not convinced? Catch the last day of Uke Fiesta from 7pm tomorrow and prepared to be ukulele-d.
